Two For Joy, Newcastle upon Tyne

As part of the Re-Newcastle programme, we developed a 100m² permanent supergraphic installation marking the city’s flagship segregated cycleway.

The design language references dazzle camouflage and Newcastle’s maritime history, combined with imagery of the magpie, a regional emblem, and the peacock and nuthatch, acknowledging communities across India, Pakistan and beyond that enrich the city’s cultural identity.

Integrated within new road crossings, seating areas, and active travel routes, the artwork strengthens legibility and reinforces the identity of the cycle corridor within a complex urban environment.

Through consultation and engagement, the project supported positive behavioural change and helped communicate the city’s shift toward sustainable transport.

This commission illustrates our ability to embed graphic intervention within live transport infrastructure, aligning cultural narrative with practical wayfinding and movement.
